If Everyone, If You By: Jenikz
If everyone smiled, we would all break into a laugh
If everyone meditated, we would disperse wrath
If everyone shared, we’d go back to owning everything
If everyone united, earth would have wings
If everyone kept a vow; not to cheat, steal or hurt
If everyone loved and knew what they were worth
If we all decided, greed must die
Humanity would awake, from the great lie
If everyone realized the value of a day
If everyone thought; how close, is far away
If we all thought to make the world as best as it could be
We’d finally be happy as a human family
If everyone took time for inner silence
If we all decided there was no more violence
No more place for hatred, no tolerance for war
It would be the end of fear, bulling no more
If we listened to our hearts and followed our course
If everyone gave in to their sacred source
If everyone tried to forget and forgive
We would open ourselves to truly live
If everyone acknowledged the life of plants and trees
If everyone knew the importance of frogs and bees
If everyone respected the beauty in diversity and race
Then everyone would enjoy earth’s riches and tastes
If everyone gave their passion, all they got
If food was never left in stores to rot
If we decided, no one without water, shelter or health
Then everyone would experience earth’s truest wealth
If everyone decided to have peace in their heart
If everyone gave homage to the virtue in art
If everyone focused like the heat of the sun’s rays
The earth would truly see its greatest days.
If everyone chose just to do there part
If everyone chose today to start
If everyone chose the eco – green way
Earth herself would cease to fray
If generations chose to seize its power
If everyone grasped the opportunity this very hour
If everyone did just what they could
Earth and Humanity would be what it should
If we decided this, for just ourselves;
With individual choice; the only thing we control,
The world would be one…
Us all, as a whole.
Dear God By: Jenikz
Dear God,
Please speed up this baby stage
no one can understand me, I’m frustrated, screaming with rage
I can’t be held or in this playpen any longer
please speed things up to when I get stronger
Dear God,
Help me grow up into a big kid fast
so I can walk, eat and do things on my own at last
Being little sucks and I’m ready,
I don’t even need to sleep now with my teddy
Dear God,
All I want, is to be a teen,
so I can drive, go anywhere with my friends.. know what I mean?
I wanna live completely independent and free
I want responsibility like credit cards and shopping spree’s
Dear God,
Please hurry up and make me an adult,
no one takes me seriously, I want to make money and catapult
I’m done with rules and my parents control
no offense God, but its time for sex, drugs and rock n roll
Dear God,
Please send me someone to love and marry
being single’s not fun, on the contrary
I want this dating scene to be done,
please God just send me the one!!!
Dear God,
Send us some kids, two would be perfect
boy or girl we won’t object
we just want to be good parents,
can’t wait to do family things and run their errands
Dear God,
I need patience, these kids are driving me nuts
help them grow up fast and get out so we don’t kick their butts
They go through clothes and food like wild fire,
this better end soon we need money to retire!
Dear God,
Both of us, we need better health
I know we both neglected our bodies in exchange for wealth
we have all the time and money we need
but just a day without pain we beg, we plead
Dear God,
Slow life down, time went by so quick
its all gone my youth, my health my side kick
I want to be around to see my great grand children grow,
oh I want more time, where did life go?
Dear God,
Why did you listen to me?
I rushed life so stupidly
I should have asked for the wisdom to enjoy life for what it was each day
now life is gone, I wished it all away.
Harper By: Jenikz
How did this happen? yet fully expected
the better question is, how did you manage to be elected?
the first time ok, we didn’t know any better
the second time, shame on us, to repay your debtors
the petrol companies that paid to win your race
our resources you sell for pennies, a monumental disgrace
have you no sight of our future, our children, our needs?
sickened by your deals of short sightedness and sheer greed
You’re not interested in advancing our countries progression
just keen on holding on to your position and profession
you’re not concerned in investing in a clean, sustainable future
your policies are scandals, bandaids and unsecured sutures
majority of people did not and still don’t want you in power
and just as predicted your actions are turning our nation sour
we took pride in our home and native land
you took back treaties for your agenda to expand
you look to the US, and beg to be like them
when we are the ones with healthcare, without bailouts and mayhem
you bow to the bad guys letting in destructive corporations
your answer to solution is taxation and inflation
you’ve erased 40 years of environmental laws ignoring what we need most protected
leaving our water, our forests our land today neglected
you spend our money on advertising and obvious propaganda
more important for you to be at the airport to greet the pandas
You’ve silenced our scientists and pulled the plug on detrimental research
we’re not stupid, we know money is your church
our nation once internationally recognized for peacekeeping and farmlands
now home to the Earth’s most destructive environmental disaster, the tar sands
where we spend two to four barrels of fresh survival water for a barrel of oil,
just to burn and pollute today, never mind the toxic soil, or the wildlife
the deformed cancers in our fish our people, rivers and streams
but that’s on a hush away from the mainstream
no, no Canadian’s can’t find out, not about that,
silence those activists, make them look crazy, naive and extreme
put the spotlight on jobs, on the conservative regime
collectively we aim for our country, our home to be a better place
your values, decisions and actions are spit on our face.
Soul Mate By: Jenikz
I’ll wake up tomorrow with the hope that we’ll meet
I’ll hit the alarm clock and jump to my feet
I’ll visualize you, walking into my life
I know that I’ll be your perfect wife
I’ll wake up and swiftly and seize the day
I’ll get to my goals without delay
I’ll look in the mirror and affirm you’ll be mine
oh I hope tomorrow is that time
I’ll put myself out there, places you might be
a yoga class, a park or maybe tai chi
I’ll put an ad online and search the world wide web
I’ll never give up, not till I’m dead
I’ll wait for you, never will I settle
there is only one apple in my eye, only one rose petal
I’ll ask all my friends, what should I do? who do they know?
I’ll even ask God, the stars and tarot
I’ll work on myself, getting better day by day
cause I know the day can’t be far away
so I’ll wake up tomorrow excited cause it just might be
the day we find each other, and I turns into we.
Domestic Angels By: Jenikz
We see them daily, good doctors and nurses
the ones who don’t do it to fill their wallets or purses
the generous parent that patiently breathes before reacting
who knows its more important to be an example then resort to smacking
You know them, the angels that pick up after your waste
the ones who take pride in earth as a clean place
the activists who stand up for your rights
the ones around the world, who fight the real fight
the teachers who give it their all, teaching you the good they know
the ones who feel accomplished watching you learn and grow
the girls and women who attend school regardless if they will be beaten
the missing children who go unforgotten, everyday, every season
the quiet man that sits and feeds the pigeons
the stranger that looked into your eyes and smiled for no reason
the waitress that hears and listened to your hard day
the various groups that gather to pray
all the ones devoted to service, especially those who volunteer
the brave ones who speak up against bulling and stand up for being queer
the artists who lose themselves in creation
whom never seem to receive adequate compensation
you know them, the one’s who are positively active in your community
that gentle stranger that holds the door open at every opportunity
those ones who always give genuine compliments
the ones who send you silent blessings and keep positive sentiment
that friend that is loving, honest and sticks by you till the very end
the bus driver that drops you off route, safely around the bend
You’ve seen them, the rare ones who help with nothing to gain
that sweetheart who holds out their umbrella for you in the pouring rain
the ones who show animals kindness, dignity and respect
the farmers and stewards of our land who protect
those who put pride aside, be the bigger person and mean it when they say sorry
those who’s good deeds go unnoticed, without praise or glory
the ones who are always courteous, polite and selflessly kind
those who are caregivers for the mentally ill, deaf and the blind
that person who encourages you when all hope seems lost
the ones who shelter the homeless from the cold dead frost
tree huggers, hippies, healers, yogis and all those who’s purity beams
especially the peacekeepers, who face up to any extreme
firefighters and public servants who make the world a better place
the freedom fighters who gave their lives to put an end to hatred in race
hero’s like Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa and Gandhi
that visitor who’s companionship and advice came in handy
all the children who are still naturally innocent and beautifully naive
that helpful shoulder that helped you through grief
all those who risk their lives in times of crisis, disasters and earthquakes
those who do good, just for goodness’ sake
those who care for the elderly, who respect the fragile and old
that rare politician that can never be bought nor sold
the soldier who whistle blows and is then called a traitor
all the people who refuse to be haters
anyone who makes life easier for others and for humanity world wide
all of us are domestic angels deep down inside.
SO Cool By: Jenikz
What honestly makes a person truly cool
is not by who defines them at school
it’s not what they wear, but how they choose to wear it
not needing a label or brand name to say it
instead, cool is to refuse to advertise a brand and pay more
especially since it was made with slave labour in Bangalore
cool is when intelligence makes its mark
not only in good grades, clever status updates or remarks
but to actually think for yourself and make your own decisions
so cool, your ideas don’t come from the internet, friends or television
Cool is not how you look, walk or what others see
its having self love, self-respect, and true honesty
not being afraid to stand up when something needs to be said
not being shy to ask questions when things go over your head
cool is being kind and respectful to everyone and everything
in knowing what you do, comes back full swing
Being cool is not defined by being popular nor having the most friends
its treating all people with integrity and being someone in whom one can depend
cool is not knowing all the latest words or acronyms that hipsters derive
it’s in saying the hardest words, diplomatically with clarity and to never connive
Cool is not laughing at others for their differences or what they are not
cool is recognizing how wonderful diversity is, when others cannot
it’s more than the things you have, buy or own
cool is when your light inside is shown, full blown!!!
not being scared to be who you are and live your truth
cool is not reserved for those just in youth
cool is taking action and making others accountable for their wrongful offenses
regardless of the cost, threat, humiliation or consequences
cool is being active, present and fully aware,
it’s doing what’s right, being and remaining fair
cool has nothing to do with the size of your body, muscles or waist
cool is being healthy, accepting yourself for who you are, fully embraced
cool is not reserved for those with exceptional gifts and talents
its about rising to your best at every occasion, stepping up and being gallant
cool is doing the unpopular thing when everyone else is putting on the pressure
its about sticking to your gut instinct, doing what’s good that’s the higher measure
cool is the ability to be calm, collective yet still proactive
its when doing what’s right even though it may seem to others less attractive
its more than the shoes, the car, the house where you live
cool is being the bigger person, to forget and forgive
cool is when you push yourself to see what you’re made of
those who give life their all, who are one step above
who believe in themselves and who are not afraid to show love
those who are patient, wait their turn and don’t shove
cool are those who focus on giving yet grateful in what they receive
cool is when you search inside for what you truly believe
its more than glimmer, red carpet, sparkle or celebrity
its about rising above the things in life that are petty
Cool is a state of mind in how you feel
it’s from within, in which no one can steal
cool is accepting the gray area’s, cause life is not black and white
cool is being a fighter of a non-violent fight
some may think its not cool to demonstrate public affection or to hold your parents hand
but it IS cool, once you understand
that love is WAY more cooler than war
cooler than drugs, guns, and bombs that’s for sure
cool is knowing who you are
never allowing anyone or anything to dim that star
cool is truly measured by your spirit’s inner wealth
cool is the courage in just being yourself.
Madiba By: Jenikz
There will be no music, instead a global cry in acapella
for humanity has lost a great brother, Nelson Mandela
His struggle, a real activist’s fight
twenty seven years in jail, locked up, out of sight
his greatness was that he never gave up and knew one day world wide
all would share his vision to end apartheid
in that cell for a full life sentence, still he never crumbled
never failed to compromise or have his vision humbled
In his heart, mind and vibration, equality has its place in truth
groggy in our priorities in comfort, unconscious, aloof
a dreamer we got to witness make change and restore closer to whole
true leadership, politics with soul
a man of great measure, virtue is what stood out
his spirit uplifts us and that essence is within us all, no doubt
lest we become like the hypocrites that commemorated his last ceremony
most leaders there, crooks, murderers, phony
salute to a man who stood his ground
who did something about it not just talking or sitting around
cheers to a man who stood by a nobel cause
To the great Nelson Mandela we owe our sincere gratitude and applause.
